Transparent background

Everything is flattened onto this colour. GIF has no partial transparency.

Smooth gradients (dithering)

Hides the banding a 256-colour palette leaves in gradients. Can double the file size, so leave it off for flat artwork.

Canvas effects

Nothing on the finished canvas

Grade the whole mosaic, frame it, or vignette it. These run last, over every layer at once.

Over the cap, the whole mosaic is re-encoded with fewer colours, never just the tile that broke it, so the pieces still match.

Add at least one layer before exporting.
